RESEARCH
ASSOCIATE
The
National Center for Juvenile Justice (a private, non-profit,
research organization based in Pittsburgh) is seeking a social
science researcher. Candidates should have a M.S. or (preferably)
a Ph.D. in a social science, a background of research design
and implementation, the capability of preparing and analyzing
large data files, competence with standard statistical analysis
packages (e.g., SPSS), and experience writing quantitatively
based research reports. Research/evaluation experience in
the juvenile or criminal justice field is preferred. Excellent

PROGRAMMER
Salary Range: $40,000 - $53,000 per annum, DOE
Required
Qualifications:

Minimum BA/BS in Computer Science.

Exhibits
working knowledge of programming, logic, and relational
databases (develop, maintain, query, and analyze).

Extensive
experience with Microsoft Access and Visual Basic.

Knowledge
of Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office applications, particularly
Excel.

Strong
oral and written communication skills.

Experience with SQL Server
- Familiarity
with SPSS a plus
Primary
Responsibilities:
This
position requires a programmer that will be responsible for
restructuring data files into a format compatible with the
project's requirements. This programmer will be required to
work with researchers, project managers, data analysts, and
a programming team to create data files that meet specified
project design requirements. It requires a willingness and
ability to learn new programming concepts and to develop special
analyses of data sets upon request. A strong technical and
analytical background is essential for this position. Documentation
of programs according to an established style is required
for all tasks.
The
ideal candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized,
and detail-oriented, and be able to work productively with
a team or independently.
